Water Bill Management System
custom automation dashboard designed to eliminate the manual stress of managing utility bills. It fetches or receives water bills from AUWASA and instantly distributes them to tenants via SMS and WhatsApp.

Problem :
Managing water bills for multiple tenants in a rental property is a logistical headache. My mother had to manually track bills received from the Arusha Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (AUWASA), calculate totals, and then message each tenant individually. This manual process was time-consuming, prone to calculation errors, and often led to delayed payments because reminders were missed.
Solution :
The main technical challenge was the integration of different messaging protocols to ensure 100% delivery. I had to configure an automation engine (n8n) to handle webhooks and API calls to both WhatsApp and SMS gateways. Additionally, I focused on creating an extremely "low-friction" UI—since the end-user was my mother, the interface had to be simpler than a standard app, consisting only of the essential inputs needed to trigger the automation.
Challenge :
The main challenge lies in achieving the right balance between minimalism and visual interest. It is crucial to ensure that the poster does not appear too plain or empty, while still avoiding clutter.
The typography must complement the illustration without overpowering it, and the chosen blue tones must harmonize with Very Peri to create a cohesive look. Additionally, the design needs to remain effective and appealing across various print and digital formats.
Summary :
What used to take hours of manual texting and tracking now takes less than 10 seconds. This project is a testament to the power of "Micro-SaaS" solutions—small, targeted tools built to solve specific local problems. By automating the communication between the landlord and tenants, I have significantly reduced billing disputes and improved the collection cycle for our family property.
