Problem :

In Tanzania and across Africa, the informal labor market is fragmented and inefficient. Finding a reliable worker for immediate tasks—like a plumber, a cleaner, or a delivery person—usually depends on slow word-of-mouth networks. This results in lost income opportunities for skilled workers and unreliable service delivery for customers, who have no way to verify the quality or safety of the help they hire.

Solution :

Kazzzi solves this by providing a "Gigs at your fingertips" platform. It functions as a two-sided marketplace where workers can discover multiple jobs in their immediate vicinity daily. As a Software Developer on the project, I contributed to building and refining the core features that make this possible: Real-time location matching, Identity verification systems, and a Reputation-based rating system. I also focused on the cross-platform experience (iOS/Android), ensuring that the transition from a digital request to a physical service is seamless.

Challenge :

The primary technical challenge was creating a "trusted infrastructure" for a high-stakes environment. We had to ensure the app remained fluid and stable while handling real-time data, integrated deep links, and location tracking. On the UI/UX side, the challenge was designing for a diverse user base; we needed an interface that was powerful enough for businesses but simple enough for a local day-laborer to navigate without technical training.

Summary :

Since its launch, Kazzzi has grown to over 5,000 organic users, proving the high demand for digitized informal labor. My role involved optimizing the app’s performance and stability, fixing critical UI issues, and enhancing the onboarding flow to support this rapid growth. By turning local labor into searchable digital infrastructure, Kazzzi is not just an app—it’s a tool for economic empowerment that makes work discovery fast, trusted, and repeatable for thousands of Tanzanians.
